Principal's Message
Welcome Jaguar FAMILY,
It's hard to believe we are finally here for the start of the new year!
Our theme this year is: Celebrating 10 years of FAMILY: FAME, Academics, Mission-Driven, Innovative, Legendary, and Yielding Success. We are Jaguar STRONG! Students will have the opportunity to participate in a number of new adventures this year. A new grade level, new teachers, wearing a mask, social distancing, face-to-face AND digital instruction, 1:1 devices, brain breaks, movement breaks, and many others. Many of these will be challenging and we hope to help students face them with a positive problem-solving attitude!
School will start virtually on August 17. We aren't naive to the challenges this presents to many families. We are empathetic, and the outcome of this year will depend so much on the way we as a school and community frame it. You can count on us to provide plenty of smiles, encouragement, and positive feedback. The more you can share in positive school-related moments at home (even though you may want to pull your hair out), the more successful this year will be. Let's do this together as a FAMILY.
We will effectively communicate through automated calls and emails, social media, the school website, and newsletters to inform you of events, important information, and special opportunities at NMHS. We highly recommend you visit our website and register for Notify me and join our social media pages.
We are glad that you chose NMHS for your student’s education. We will do our best to provide a great academic, safe, and social experience. I look forward to a productive, successful year! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, and ideas that you would like to discuss. We are #JaguarStrong and will see you digitally on August 17, 2020!
Sincerely,
Tekmekia Gilchrist

SAT/ACT Fee Waiver Information for 2020-2021
Parents of and Seniors,
I have received several phone calls/emails regarding the plan for students to receive SAT/ACT fee waivers to pay for the cost of testing. As you may be aware, in the past, eligibility has been determined by whether a student participates in the free or reduced lunch program the current school year. For a period of time, if a student received free or reduced lunches last school year, their status will remain approved for the current time. While students will begin this school year digitally, it is still very important that parents go ahead and apply for the free/reduced lunch program, located on the Douglas County Board of Education Website, if the plan is for the student to participate in the program when they return to school physically. I currently have only ACT Fee Waivers (they will expire August 31, 2020), but will be receiving SAT Fee Waivers by the end of August. Please call or email me, if you would like to come to the school to pick-up an ACT Fee Waiver.
Thank you,
