The MATCH Mentoring Program needs volunteers
What is a mentor? A mentor is a person who takes a few hours out of their monthly schedule to work one-on-one with a student. Many students throughout the county are in need of positive role models like you! Mentors are asked to participate in a one time training session and then give at least one hour a week to visit their mentor match.
Do you remember the person who was there for you when you were younger? The person who listened to you, gave you advice, and supported you no matter what. The person who encouraged you and became your friend. Do you remember your mentor?
Now is the time to pass it on. There are hundreds of students in the Douglas County School System who are in need of a positive adult role model in their lives. They need support and guidance, help with schoolwork, or just hear them out. Can you be that someone to a student in Douglas County? Will you be a mentor?
With just one hour each week, you can help make a difference in the school experiences of a student. Help an elementary student develop their basic and social skills. Be there for a middle school student who needs some extra guidance to make the right decisions. Coach a high school student who is interested in your career field. The possibilities are endless and the rewards you receive as a mentor are priceless.
