Freshman Academy

Ninth grade is a time of excitement and expectation. It is a time when you begin to discover who you are, and what you want to become.

The transition from middle school to high school is a big step in a student. The Freshman Academy Staff is here to help students discover and take the fundamental steps required for a successful transition into high school.

New Manchester High School offers unique experiences throughout the year. Some are learning opportunities and class bonding, while some are just plain fun!

Freshman Orientation: During the first week of August, before school starts, all freshman participate in an orientation that includes campus and classroom tours.

Class Meetings: Class meetings are held several times a year and often include speakers who talk about study skills, social media responsibility, and character development.

College Counseling: Each freshman student will have the support of an academic advisor who will help with course selection, academic support, and exploration into colleges and universities that he or she wants to.

What is the Freshman Academy?
The Freshman Academy is a transitional program to provide all incoming ninth grade students a foundation for success. The Academy specializes in preparing students for their high school career through a variety of concentrated efforts. 

What are the benefits of the Freshman Academy?
The Freshman Academy increases student attendance and school spirit by creating a sense of belonging. Our structured environment also significantly decreases behavior problems.

Can students participate in sports and clubs while attending the Freshman Academy?
Yes! Students at the Freshman Academy have the same opportunity to participate in clubs, athletics, and extracurricular activities as other students at New Manchester High School.
