New Manchester Debate Team Recognized for Excellence

Congratulations to the New Manchester High School Debate Team. Debate Coach Serena Robertson was chosen as the Atlanta Urban Debate League's (AUDL) Coach of the Year. The team was highlighted in AUDL's 2024-2025 Annual Membership Guide and was also recognized as an Outstanding Member Club.

Lastly, NMHS has recently been notified that Ms. Robertson has been awarded a Classroom Impact Grant through the Douglas County Education Foundation (DCEF).

The grant, called Empowering Voices: A Debate and Public Speaking Initiative, will cover the debate team's National Speech and Debate Association membership and resource packet, and support the continued success of the program. Additionally, in their academic classes, it will help students to articulate understanding of various styles of texts and media, leading to stronger essay writing and test performance.
